Get up in the morning at 7AM checking my Tweetdeck for direct messages and replies. There are none. But, how could that be?
I mean, I posted some pretty interesting stuff all day yesterday. I poured my heart out into it. Where are you people? You must be tone deaf and Twitter deaf! Maybe I just need some new followers.
Is there a program out there that will get me more followers who will pay me some attention? I'm willing to pay for friends and followers. No matter what the cost!
Forget Twitter, let me go over to Facebook. I know they love me over there!
Checking Facebook, ok, ok, no responses to my status updates? What, there is even one of my friends who sent out an angry update in all caps talking about how he doesn't want to receive unsolicited party invites, and marketing messages to his inbox. The nerve! Everybody should like to party. And why are you on Facebook if you don't want to receive marketing messages?
I am so lonely. I wish someone would listen to me.
The above is just a scenario into the day of a Facebook/Twitter member who does not understand the rules of engagement. You've seen them; you've read their messages and updates. They hold no value to your life, so you don't reply nor do you retweet those updates.
One big thing many people forget that use Twitter and Facebook is, be engaging. If you are constantly shouting sales messages of your products or services, you will be avoided like the bubonic plague! Let your personality shine through, if possible.
I know that may be hard for some of you, because as a rule, we know that the internet is full of nerds and geeks. But, it is also home to a lot of non-geeky, non-nerdy types who know how to hold a conversation in real life...you know, day to day stuff.
There are rules of engagement when you use social networks, and if you find yourself feeling alone on Twitter or on Facebook, then you've probably been ostracized, silently. Similar to how you are in real life.
Here's a tip: change your ways, and you'll change your life. Quit doing the stuff that hasn't gotten you a response in the past, and try something new, like try to be a real person for once. See what that gets you.
That's real talk, and a Home Business Success tip.

This is great timing. I just joined Twitter and have been tweeting all week. I'm patient enough to understand that my swimwear clothing store isn't going to attract 1000's of followers the first week, but I was hoping for more than 4. I've always tried to be sensitive to a 'low-spam' approach, and contribute where I can. My tweets have been a mix of fun insights and some marketing. I think if you can skillfully include both, you're on the right track to gaining friends on Twitter. Hopefully over time the followers will come.
What I've learned so far is that it's better to start by following, before you can expect to be followed. Don't know if anyone agrees, but would love to hear other thoughts.
Also Swimwear Clothing you can post interesting content. Think of Twitter like a cocktail party, if you're interesting and have cool stuff to talk about then people will listen. I post lots of interesting breaking news kind of things and on Fridays I reward my followers by giving them a shoutout--which gets them more followers. Good luck and look me up on Twitter. I am @teasastips.
Hey lots of times i check my twitter and have lots of DM messages and replies and then nothing but do not feel bad about it. You just keep on posting your tweets and sell your products eventually things will work out foryou. I hve a few followers had more then wht I ghave now but alot of them got tired of me always askiing and reminding them to go and vote for me at http://bloginterviewer.com/animals/dogcents-ruth but I had to for donations are not coming in at this is about the only place where I can at least get votes and buy some dog food if I win so I have to ask for votes. The folowers I lost I do not care about it becasue it just showed me what kind of cold hearted people they were to get mad because Iwas asking for votes to help feed my dogs so who needs those kind of selfish people not me!
