Secrets To Picking Good Keywords For Cyber Monday

Ipods are hot this holiday season (again). And as Cyber Monday approaches, are you ready? I mean do you have a sales and marketing strategy mapped out so you can capitalize on the millions of cyber shoppers ready to spend money on your offers? Cyber Monday is the next biggest shopping event this holiday season, only difference is, it’s all online.

The reports are in; Black Friday was a success, not an overwhelming one, but a 3 percent increase from last year kind of success for offline retailers. For Cyber Monday, your customers don’t have to stand in line in the cold for hours waiting for the doors to open. They’re open 24/7, but you’ve got to be ready for them. You can get your offers ready by generating keyword strong posts that will get you the sales you need.

Generally, Google likes domain names that are aged, that is domain names that have been around awhile in order to send you traffic. If you have a relatively new domain and want to capitalize on Cyber Monday traffic, you should have been reading this blog and lots of others the past few months. I’ve been writing how important it is to build back links in order to gain authority. It’s the most inexpensive SEO tactic available to you. Cyber Monday to online marketers is like Black Friday to offline retailers.

If you haven’t been building back links, then here are two free tips to gain authority. Spend time commenting on do follow blogs so you can gain some reciprocal links. Home Business Success was born August 2008 and already has over 1000 incoming links. That number grows everyday because of the time I spend building links. Cyber Monday is just another day if you don’t have authority.

Tip number two: your blog needs to have well written copy. Believe me when I tell you that grammar is important. The Google bots don’t like grammatically incorrect copy. They roll right past you like a person who stutters badly. (I’m a former stutter-er, so I’m not making fun of anyone.) If you don’t know how to write well, don’t worry, I’m sure if you post an ad in a forum, someone will assist you—they may charge you, but nevertheless, you get what you pay for. If you don’t have these two SEO tactics in place now, then don’t worry about Cyber Monday 2008—just prepare for Cyber Monday 2009.

Keywords are an integral part of your online marketing campaign. This is uber important. Not only are keywords important, but there are two free tools that I know of that can help you come up with awesome keywords for any post you are creating. Wordtracker and Google Keyword Research Tool are the most popular. The best thing about them is they are free. So, there is no excuse for not using them. Particularly if you are participating in an Adwords or PPC campaign for Cyber Monday.

If you’re using Firefox, there is a neat plug in that allows you to scope out your competitors’ keywords. This will give you an idea of what is working for them. The plug-in is called SEO For FireFox Plug-In. I’m keeping this post short and sweet, so you can get started on developing strong keywords for your Cyber Monday blog posts and PPC campaigns.
