- Brand yourself, by personalizing your profile.
- Follow others who are in your niche. You can also input your existing contacts from your Gmail, Yahoo, MSN, etc. accounts.
- Follow Thought Leaders and the people thought leaders follow. Get involved, think of it like a cocktail party.
- Get the company you work for to create a company page. Zappos.com has really embraced Twitter this way.
- Engage your community. Marketing is about having a conversation with your audience. Don't be afraid...just jump in and do it!
- Check out what people are already saying about you within your niche and join in on the conversation.
- Use the favorites tool to communicate with your customers. Favorites come in handy because you can set up a page with all the positive things said about you.
- Got an event? Use Twitter to promote it.
- Set up a Tweet-up, like a Meet-up--of all your twitter friends so you can place a real live person with the avatar or photo.
- Use Twitter Grader and find out the level of your influence and your followers' influence.

Great tips for people who are new to twitter. When I first joined twitter I have no idea how to use it or how to follow people.. I was asking myself, why would I follow people I don't know.. until I got an e-mail about a virtual girls night out twitter style... I tried it again and so far I am loving it now... I even made me a cute badge for my twitter on my blog..
Twitter, like anything else, you must learn how to use it to your benefit. Thanks for stopping by.
